Join the board of the Earth Day Omaha Coalition to be a part of planning Omaha's premier Earth Day celebration in 2012.

The Earth Day Omaha Coalition is seeking self-starting, organized individuals with a passion for preserving the environment. Proven experience in one of the following areas, a track record of service in the Omaha community and previous experience serving on a board is preferred.

Our board members are deeply involved in the planning and implementation of each Earth Day Omaha event. Some of the skills we're looking for include: - Fundraising and sponsorship development - Event planning and logistics - Event marketing, including PR, email/database marketing and management and social media - Media partnership development and management - Vendor/exhibitor solicitation and relationship management - Educational programming development - Musical talent scouting and booking

Interviews with board finalists may be conducted June 6-24, and those selected to the board will be notified by June 30. The first meeting of the new board will take place in July.

FAQs

What's the time commitment?

The Earth Day Omaha Coalition board meets once a month throughout the year and more frequently as the event nears.

All board positions require your participation in planning and implementing the elements of a successful event. It's exciting to pull off a great day, and it means you'll need to be available to fulfill your position's duties, often in March and April, though sometimes earlier. Exactly how much time this requires varies by position.

What's expected of me the day of the event?

It's no fun to put in a bunch of work and not see the fruits of your labor. Our board members are expected to attend and assist at the Earth Day Omaha event. Some board members will take on positions that require a lot of work the day of the event, others will have duties that require more work leading up to it. Everyone pitches in!

How long is the term?

Term lengths will vary from 1-3 years and are not tied to specific board roles. Appointees will have the option to request term lengths based on the availability of positions within each term length.
